Uruguay duck hunting is a Los Gauchos Outfitters trip that will bring you back in time and provide excellent duck hunting season after season.

Uruguay has become a favorite among duck hunters, thanks to Los Gauchos Outfitters, a U.S. based company that offers full service hunting packages to our clients. The hunting guides and staff that understand duck hunting and provide the best Uruguay duck hunts all season long.

There is no other duck hunting destination in South America than that of rice fields with irrigation systems providing water when mother nature skips a week, and winter weather that brings in large ducks that feed on the rice and water that is baited each day by the scouts and guides.

Finally, professional duck hunting guides that are from Uruguay and know the area and the behavior of the ducks that are eager to share the chance to show you what duck hunting in Uruguay is all about.

To Summarize the Top Five Reasons Uruguay is Best for Waterfowl Hunting:

Professional Guides that know the birds of South America and their behaviors, colors, sounds.

Consistent duck volumes due to baiting the fields with rice and modern water systems that provide key places the ducks migrate to.

Long season and weather patterns that are close to duck hunting perfection. Cool mornings, enough rain from mother nature and of course the guides that scout and bait the rice farms.

No hunting pressure. Uruguay is unlike Texas, Louisiana, and Mexico where duck hunters line up and the blasts that go off on opening day would make any game bird fly far away. Uruguay is a ducks paradise and the low hunting pressure keeps the birds coming May 1st to September 15th.

Safety and ease of travel to Uruguay. A beautiful South American country that offers duck hunting all day and does not require the need of waders – just preparation for one of the best waterfowl hunts.

When is the best time to come for the best Uruguay duck hunting?

That gets asked a lot and Los Gauchos Outfitters will give you the truth. Anytime is a good time to take part in the Uruguay duck hunting.

The Uruguay duck hunting season begins May 1st and lasts until August 31st. The Uruguay duck hunting trips are 3 days or 4 days depending on your group or travel schedule. Los Gauchos Outfitters schedule the Uruguay duck hunts to start on a Saturday, Tuesday, or Thursday which coincide with the direct flight to Montevideo, Uruguay on American Airlines. American Airlines is currently the only carrier that has a direct flight from Miami to Montevideo. The flights (AA 989) departs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 11 PM. The overnight flight gets you to Montevideo, Uruguay at 9 AM and in the duck hunting blind that afternoon.

Take time to review the videos on the Los Gauchos You Tube channel and get ready to get your calendars out and duck hunting buddies together for some great Uruguay duck hunting.

After 10 days going over the 2010 duck hunting season, and checking out what we can do to improve the lodges, the logistics, and more – Los Gauchos is ready for you to come to Uruguay for some dove hunting (this weekend? Sure, come on down…) or some of the best duck hunting in South America.

Good for those who like to plan – May 2011 is the start of the Uruguay duck hunting season. From the comments and waterfowl hunters returning, get in on this duck hunt. We have 2 lodges and they are both excellent for waterfowl hunting. So, get your practice as the North America duck hunting season starts soon. And then come to duck hunting paradise in Uruguay.

Fortin Lodge – duckhuntinguruguay.us or the Rio Branco Lodge – duckhuntinguruguay.net

We are off to watch some football (U.T. Longhorns) looking good, practice shooting skeet, and maybe fit in another Uruguay dove hunt or dorado fishing trip. We are ready for you to join us. Spring time in Uruguay is great and summer time will look great as the winter temperatures and storms hit North America.

Peru Hunting – Dove Hunting – Duck Hunting – Goose Hunting – Los Gauchos Outfitters in Peru

The New VIDEO showcasing the Bird Hunting in Peru is here….

A lot of anticipation has been built up for what you are about to see…….but the facts are in Peru is an awesome, pure, undiscovered wing-shooting destination. Amazing ducks, a case of shells a day on White-wing and Mourning dove, quail, pheasant, and the Andean Goose. Plus big rainbow trout—coming in the next video……

The band AC/DC once sung, “For Those About To Rock, We Salute You”,

and I say to you, for those of you who are looking for the adventure safari of a lifetime, you MUST TRY Peru.

The duck shooting is every bit as good as Argentina, and only slightly less than Uruguay–but not really–since there is a 7 box per day limit in each place…..so the limit is you.

I killed 46 ducks in less than 2 hours–on 3 boxes of shells…….that was enough for me…..but you can shoot up to 7 boxes per day if you wish.

You can probably do better.

Once the duck and dove hunting are complete, the trip to the Andes for quail and pheasant begins at 8,333 feet–and after you acclimate to the altitude–and you will– we shall summit for the big trophy Andean goose and trophy ducks like ruddy, crested, and more…… The big Andean geese will fascinate you much in the same way the big Tundra Swans do–and they are truly a once in a lifetime trophy.

The sights and sounds at 15,585 feet are “Twilight Zone” like. You cant believe the beauty, but you have to breathe too. We all move pretty slow up there, since oxygen is at a premium, but that is part of the enjoyment—kind of reminds me of the scene in the movie Young Guns where Emilio Esteban “Billy the Kid” and his posse consumed peyote and everything was in slow motion……..it’s kind of the same in Peru, but without the drugs……you don’t need em’. The untold beauty of this virgin territory alongside the Inca trail bears it’s own mystique, that has to be seen to be believed. We have supplemental oxygen for all guest, so rest assured—it’s not a problem. Anyone in decent shape can do it. Acclimation the prior day and night is the key–and you shoot quail and pheasant during that time!

Won’t you join us on this amazing adventure?

You cannot bring guns to Peru, and Los Gauchos has succeeded in importing the high quality firearms that you need to make this trip a success………and the brand—Benelli of course. From the Chesapeake Bay to Uruguay, and back up to the rarefied air of the high Andes, nothing performs quit like them…..

We still have two spots left in August for Peru before the season closes for a while. Call now, and let’s do it!!!! You must see the Peru hunting video. This trip is about much more than shooting…..It’s about the time of your life! You will begin your trip in Lima, an amazing city that offers much of the fine dining and nightlife that Buenos Aires does–call for more info!

Peru is serious fun! Let’s do it!

****** Special thanks to my friend and a guy I hope to be future associate of mine—SCOT KUCHTA (SAKmedia LLC)——a cool dude with amazing talent, parties like a Rock Star, and learned from a mutual acquaintance, to NEVER QUIT—-he is essentially the only guy I know that can keep up with me on a South American marathon—-we went to Uruguay for 7 days immediately after this trip! 12 total days and 17,442 miles……..The Uruguay video is next, and man………there is more great wing-shooting and dorado fishing to come.

Contact Los Gauchos Outfitters about the Peru Hunting Trip in August – yes AUGUST 2010 – quick flight, great, safe city and country and outstanding bird hunting – bring your cold weather clothes for hunting in South America this August with Los Gauchos Outfitters.

Los Gauchos Outfitters is excited to offer the top ten reasons to plan and take a hunting trip to Peru.

1. EASE of TRAVEL to PERU – getting to Peru is easy and the flights are frequent and many are daytime flights so no worries about overnight flights. Enjoy a good movie and be in Peru ready for dinner and seeing the sites of Lima and particularly Mira Flores – an exclusive high end area of Lima with excellent shopping, restaurants, bars, and more.

2. OUTSTANDING HUNTING – we cannot emphasize this enough. The Los Gauchos Peru Hunting includes doves (think like Mexico dove hunting), ducks (heard of Los Gauchos in Uruguay and duck hunting…now add Peru), geese (Andean geese in Peru), and sheep (HUGE – trophy size) all of this out of same hunting trip and lodge in Peru with Los Gauchos Outfitters.

3. AFFORDABLE RATES - yes, we are all looking for the sales and we love to see exclusive hunting trips that are not expensive. They will seem expensive as our service is 5 star – but the daily rates are affordable and comparable to any South American hunting trip. However, look close. You will pay this if not more in Cordoba for doves, and guess what, you only have the opportunity to shoot doves. So, starting at $650 per day – including the Los Gauchos standards (hunting, lodging, meals, beverages, guns, and tips) this Peru Hunt is a secret Los Gauchos is about to share with the hunting world.

4. GUIDES and HOST – only the best with Los Gauchos Outfitters. An American owned company with an owner who loves to hunt and takes on the hunting trip like he was a client (and trust me, he’s a TOUGH client!), he sees through every detail of the trip. So get ready for comfortable lodging, excellent cuisine, and fine wines and of course hunting that will blow you away! The scenery and the opportunity to hunt Andean geese, white-wing and mourning doves, high volume ducks, and sheep that are trophy size big game makes this look like we priced it wrong. The guides and host are highly educated and experienced and know the land of Peru – so their service is what you expect – and nothing less.

5. ASSISTANCE with the PERU HUNTING TRIP – Los Gauchos maintains websites and an office that is there to answer your questions, get your questions answered and point you in the right direction for booking flights to Lima, Peru (here is some help: LIM is the airport code for the arrival/departure city in Peru). We send you a detailed statement. You have the ability to pay with a check or credit card (Mastercard or Visa) and we even help pack your bags (we send you a packing list….). And guess what – for international flights – your bags fly free.

6. PERU – I don’t see them in the WORLD CUP – So ESPN has not talked about PERU? I don’t know PERU? Well, no worries. A safe, beautiful country that hosts thousands of tourists each year. Lima is the top city and of course Machu Picchu is the famous mountain peak that hikers take on year round. The language is Spanish. The money is a Peru SOL – but again, we deal with USD and everything except your shotgun shells are paid before you depart for Peru. It is located on the western side of South America and borders Brazil (east side), Pacific Ocean (west side), Ecuador (north) and Chile (south). Hunting is legal and the country has just opened up the hunting season for wing shooters and big game hunters as well as waterfowl hunters. Los Gauchos was there…so we are first to offer such a hunt in Peru.

7. FAMILY OR NON-HUNTING FRIENDS? Sure, Lima, is a great city to visit and shop. Again, Mira Flores offers some outstanding shopping and the cafes, food, and architecture of the Incas are a site to capture so bring a camera. Some family members may want to head to Cuzco and do a hike up Machu Picchu – a popular trip and one that is unforgettable as far as the scenery.

8. COST to FLY to PERU? Are you ready for this? Less than $1000 round-trip to Lima. Now, this usually means a quick stop but if price is your main concern….flights to Peru are so frequent you can get there for less than $800. Several Airlines fly direct – American has the most direct flights to Lima – so check out the Los Gauchos Flight Information Page at http://www.losgauchos.com/air-travel-info.html.

9. WHAT DO I NEED TO TRAVEL to PERU? Just a current passport. With citizens holding a current US passport, you are ready to travel to Peru.

10. LAST REASON on TAKING a Hunting Trip to PERU – LOS GAUCHOS OUTFITTERS. Enough said. Been in the business offering South America bird hunting and fishing trips for over 10 years…and we listen to our clients who have helped us stay number one in South America. So one, come 10 – get ready for Peru Hunting with Los Gauchos Outfitters.

Peru Hunting with Los Gauchos Outfitters

Check out more on Hunting in Peru at Los Gauchos Outfitters – we have information about the dove hunting and duck hunting as well as good travel information about Lima, Peru.

Pass it on. This topic made the movies and a very popular song that reiteriteates the concept of “passing it on..”. With Father’s Day coming up, most of the retail stores are pushing the concept of “BUY IT NOW” instead of “Pass it On”. Los Gauchos likes to stand apart in the South America hunting trip offerings and so we continue our work with Father’s Day week .

Father’s should take this week to think about passing on the great sport of hunting and fishing. Competing interests of school activities, friends, ever-present computer and techno games and social sites, makes finding time for the outdoors rough. But, for the hunting tradition to continue and with the ease and excitement of now hunting and fishing beyond the US borders (i.e. Argentina, Uruguay, Peru), dads must make the effort to involve young people in the fun of waterfowl hunting, dove hunting, and fishing.

Los Gauchos has learned so much from our own dad (s) – and we continue to witness the impact of dads who bring their sons to Argentina and Uruguay for a hunting trip. You will really make a difference and we hope Los Gauchos is part of the tradition of passing it on to future waterfowlers and wingshooters.

Los Gauchos Outfitters shares and celebrates Father’s Day with all the men who convey: confidence and nobility to sons and daughters. Passing these traits to our future generation is important. Los Gauchos thanks our dads for instilling these traits in us and for taking us out for that first dove hunt, duck hunt, fishing trip and teaching us what being the best is. Los Gauchos is number one in South America for many reasons and we have to thank our dads for helping us be number one.

After two decades of duck hunting, I’ve learned a lot from the ducks I’ve shot – but even more from the ones I didn’t.

So much has been written about the stereotypical duck hunt where you sit in a “stylish” blind, hot coffee in hand and countless ducks coming into the decoys that someone else set up in the early morning hours. However, as the leader of Los Gauchos and a leader in the duck hunting sport, I don’t hesitate to turn conventional wisdom upside down when it suits me and especially when it suits my waterfowl hunting friends. More often, I tend to scoff at the so-called “expert outfitters” and try things and offer some of the best duck hunting – but in a different way. Another way to put it – Los Gauchos likes to “think outside the blind (or box)”.

Los Gauchos Outfitters has partners in both Uruguay and Argentina that are tried and true and they are experts. We hunt with them, plan duck hunting trips for clients with them, and purchase and provide top hunting gear with them.

So, what makes Uruguay duck hunting different or better with Los Gauchos?

Good question – and sit back we like to discuss our duck hunting tactics with all of our potential and recurrent clients, who we now call friends.

First: Duck hunting all day. Yes, Uruguay has the resources, the guides find the resources, and the duck hunting is consistently good in the areas of Uruguay we hunt ducks. Where, you ask? Undisclosed territory! No, just kidding. Uruguay’s eastern side is full of rice crops and thousands of acres of farm land and water marshes that make this the perfect habitat for ducks in South America. It is legal to bait with rice in Uruguay, and Los Gauchos does to provide consistency with the duck hunting.

Second: The rates. Yes, there is a cost for duck hunting in Uruguay but it is not as much as many other duck hunting vacations and with an inclusive pricing plan, we have this part down. Many others are trying to figure out how they can be just like Los Gauchos, so we will offer and provide duck hunting while they continue to meet over their business plan. Los Gauchos rates includes guns (20 gauge high quality guns from Beretta or Benelli), lodging, meals, beverages, and tips.

Third: Service. Something more and more people do not expect and when dealing with an outfitter about an international hunting trip and especially Uruguay (Uruguay is not England or even Buenos Aires or Canada) – we will help you with the pronunciation of Montevideo (the city you fly into and the capital of Uruguay). The best way to pack and what to pack for your duck hunting trip. And best of all – your bags fly free! We can’t claim this advantage, but most international flights allow up to 2 pieces of luggage free, no charge.

So when it’s all said and done and you’ve looked at several websites, tried to contact several companies and not quite sure what you are getting or what you are paying for – then just send us an email (we are old-time duck hunters but up to date techno freaks that keep the blackberry on hand) or give us a call (800) 420-8707 and let us do something for you.

Los Gauchos want to bring you Duck Hunting to Uruguay, and remember while some say “one day, you will want to tell your grandchildren about duck hunting in Uruguay” we know and want you to tell your colleagues and friends about it after the first time in the blind and seeing and shooting ducks in South America.

Los Gauchos Outfitters – Uruguay Duck Hunting – (800) 420-8707 – info@losgauchos.com – www.LosGauchos.com

What is in a name? A question I started thinking about as I listen to news, listen to the radio, and read about current events.

We all know the name, Tiger Woods. The name Michael Jackson means a lot to the world. Going further the name Coca Cola, Cabelas, Starbucks and so on each has a certain meaning to you. Los Gauchos Outfitters hopefully means something to the wingshooters and waterfowl hunters looking for a hunting trip in Uruguay and Argentina.

Los Gauchos is about to begin our ninth duck hunting season in South America and our name has become a well known one in the hunting industry. I am thrilled to realize that Uruguay (and Argentina) duck hunting and Los Gauchos goes hand in hand. We have worked hard to make it a positive, accurate, well known name that delivers and is more than “just a name”.

I have worked for Los Gauchos Outfitters and stand proud to be a part of the name and everything behind it. I am about to take a new step and gain a name – CRIDDLE. I am proud and excited to have the honor of being a Criddle and as I take such pride each and everyday to stand behind and work to make the name Los Gauchos a respected name in the hunting industry, I will do the same with the Criddle name. For those who do not realize the name Criddle is the backbone of Los Gauchos Outfitters.

I recently read a story about a student who was visiting the Vietnam Memorial and was overwhelmed by the memorials and the names engraved. But, I know and she eloquently discovered that all of those engraved names were much more. They were husbands, sons, grandpas, and friends that had served our country and had their names out for the public to honor and show their respect. And they were individuals who made a difference and were loved and respected by others.

I have come to the conclusion that a name is more than a brand or the top pop song or idol but a part of an individual that will cherish so many people in life and death that the sight of their name can cause great emotion in those they have touched.

And I take the name as a true Southern Girl would – I eagerly and fully will be known as Ms. Susan (have Louisiana roots – so will never get away from this!) or Mrs. Criddle. No hyphen or combining of the name – my father would wholeheartedly agree . And with the man that stands behind the name Criddle and his father (Captain Criddle), that played a huge part in the man he is, it is an absolute honor to have and hold dear.

I look forward to taking on the cherished name of Criddle and feel proud to work and stand behind the name Los Gauchos Outfitters.

Want to impress a duck hunter? How about a “Southern Duck Hunter”? Just think, Los Gauchos and the country of Uruguay or Argentina and soon Peru.

We write this today for a female audience. While we typically have a majority of males and a nice crowd of female wingshooters. In fact, many of our female wingshooters and waterfowlers can show the men a thing or 2 about hunting in Uruguay. But, I regress and back to the topic.

You have a boyfriend, husband, friend, father, grandfather, or third cousin twice removed that lives and breathes for duck hunting season. Los Gauchos Outfitters is here to show you how to mind your manners and grant the duck hunting gentlemen their needs.

Number One: Uruguay duck hunting during the South American waterfowl season – May, June, July, or August.
No matter what you wanted to plan for summer vacation – beach, landscaping the yard, adding on to the house, or Disney World with or without the kids – Uruguay duck hunting for 4 days is the way to charm any man who finds the sport of waterfowl a necessity for survival.

Los Gauchos knows the international bird hunting travel is confusing. The outfitters, lodges, and companies have evolved over the past few years. As Ted Nugent once sang “ I just wanna go huntin’ It makes me feel so good.” Los Gauchos has a simplified efficient way to book and plan a duck hunting trip to Uruguay. Fees all paid before you depart and all you have to worry about is the next flock of ducks coming over the horizon in Uruguay.

Some other ways to charm your duck hunter include:

2. Help us pack our bag for Uruguay – that’s right. I speak from experience and loan the best sunscreen and first aid ointment you have for your sharp shooter. Pack the camera with film and battery in tact. You need something to show off for your friends on Facebook.

3. Ask for a trophy. No, don’t ask for them to “swing” thru Buenos Aires and grab a handmade leather jacket, ask for the best looking RosyBill Pochard and have a good spot for it in the den.

4. Brush up on your Tex-Mex recipes. The one realm of food that is not found in Uruguay or Argentina is Tex-Mex. So, grab a bag of tositos chips, some good salsa, and tex-mex and have it ready for brunch!

5. Finally, take an interest in duck hunting or dove hunting and really start practicing by shooting clays and get ready for a good time duck hunting in Uruguay. New shooters and expert shooters are welcome and the ducks are high volume and consistent, so we have room for the family.

Los Gauchos is the wingshooting experts for Argentina and Uruguay and now we present Peru bird hunting. Wingshooting and small game is all a hunting man/woman needs. While bird hunting delivers the same rush whether you are in a duck blind in Texas, Oklahoma, South Louisiana, or the marshes of Arkansas. Los Gauchos provides the background and the birds for that same rush in Argentina and Uruguay. And now PERU.

Ducks filling the sky and tearing by at full speed or into the carefully set up decoys, the excitement and the feeling of being outdoors with a flock of ducks unlike those seen in North America – add to the bird hunter’s rush. Home to over 7 species of ducks, and millions of the golden-eared dove that do not migrate, and Perdiz that work with the bird dogs to create an outstanding hunt, Argentina and Uruguay’s wingshooting opportunities span every region of the countries.

This is the good news and the highlights of our article, but as superb as the shooting in Argentina and Uruguay can be, knowing the hotspots and Estancias that give a bird hunting trip merit takes some research and checking. Wingshooters that have never tried bird hunting in Argentina or Uruguay are frequently struck by the country’s enormous size and the volume and variation in birds that are legal and many times limitless.

Los Gauchos suggests reading our website and references and articles that are referenced by many professionals in the hunting business. LosGauchos.com is a large reference center and one we continue to update, since updates are needed but the fact remains that bird hunting in Argentina and Uruguay stays the same – like the good ‘ol days of consistent shooting, liberal limits, good friends, and a beautiful background to enjoy a sport that has been enjoyed for decades.

As Ernest Hemingway states: “When you have shot one bird flying you have shot all birds flying. They are all different and they fly in different ways but the sensation is the same and the last one is as good as the first.”

Contact Los Gauchos today to find out more about the Argentina, Uruguay and now Peru bird hunting opportunities.

Duck, Dove, Perdiz, PIgeons, Goose Hunting - the Gaucho Way - Only Way!
